He's been a great champion. But when you're giving away 50 lbs. and about 5 inches in height - you're gonna need more technique than what he showed.
When Silva went from north south to side control - Fedor didn't even cross his leg to prevent the mount. How could he not do that against a man this size? Who's a BJJ blackbelt. How could Fedor not know that at this point a BJJ man is going for position first?
Because once Silva got the mount - the end wasn't far away. He's too big. And even Fedor's standup boxing and kicking game was sloppy. He traded too much and got caught with some big shots.
I think he's been so unhurtable for so long that he got too used to taking chances and getting away with things that no one else had been able to do before. But when you're up against giant heavyweights like Rogers, Werdum, and now Silva....it's gonna catch up with you.
Imo, Fedor needs to spend some time with a better boxing coach and maybe a catch guy like Sakuraba to learn some more technique...it's time for him to take his game to the next level or retire.
But I love the guy, whatever he does. What a warrior he's been!!!

First off if Fedor does retire, than THANK YOU FEDOR!! Thank you for years of acting as a gentleman in and out of the ring. Thank you for being a warrior, Thank you for the memories.
Fedor has a camp full of "yes men". Thats the main problem. This reminds me of when Mike Tyson had a bunch of useless guys in his camp telling him he's great. Fedor needs real men who are willing to be blunt with him and tell him the truth, whether he likes it or not.

And I don't think he's the kind of guy who would mind too much if someone got on him a bit. But when you've been the unbeatable champ in a place like Russia (where even Putin wants his photo taken with Fedor)...then there will be a lot of yes men who want to hang around you. If he decides to continue fighting - then I hope he sees through that and gets some new people in his camp.

He had more all around talent then Cro Cop, but is now in the same situation. You have your own camp at home and you're not sparring with guys who are looking to compete at the highest levels themselves. Yeah Cro Cop had Werdum as his BJJ trainer for a bit but it requires more then that, it requires becoming a nomad and humbling yourself before an established gym that's putting out killers.
Arlovski went to Greg Jackson's but it was too late into his career and he's only there for a few weeks at a time.
But yes, if that was Fedor's last fight I'd rather he know when its his time then risk anything further that could hinder his long term health.

I think Fedor needs to train with a tall and long limbed BJJ blackbelt who is over 240lbs." Know your enemy"!
