Sorry about being slow to reply. I've been really busy trying to work up my taxes The online source for a lot of these is: lutte-wrestling.com/NEw%20galleries.htmlAlso I pulled some over from the mixedmartialarts thread that came from personal picture postings, mine and other peoples. Some of the original sources are "Modern Wrestling" by Nat Fleisher, "Wrestling - A Pictorial History" by David Hofstede, "Wrestling" by coach Henry Stone, and any of the three wrestling instructional done by coach E.C. Gallagher. There is one picture of the legendary Fred Grubmier online that I can find but I can never get it to stay up. Same with a couple of former wrestler / actor Nat Pendelton If those three don't stay up you can still copy them and view them direct. Grubmier of course was the guy who made a fortune hooking the carny hookers and who mauled Wladek Zbyszko in a work turned shoot. Later Wladek would wear a gi for the first time in his life at the age of 43 and draw with Helio Gracie.

Whats crazy about the Wladek Zbyszko-Helio Gracie thing is that I believe that Wladek wasn't considered a top "hooker" in his day (I could be wrong). Anyway, I love these old pics.

You're right about Wladek from what I have read. He was basically a mid level guy. Not even close to the level of his brother.

Scuffler do you have any pics of CACC guys in a gi? I know many have worn the gi during Catch's infamous rivalry with Judo. Ironically enough, one the most common pics of BJJ founder Mitsuyo "Count Coma" Maeda is a pic of him with no gi and some wrestling shoes and tights on.

There are some of H.L. Leonard at the lutte site I posted a link to, but not too many out there. Here is one of Leonard: I've seen one of Wladek against Helio, I believe it was pulled from an old newspaper article about the match. I don't even remember where I saw it now but I remember that the gi top was crazy tight on Wladek, way too small. I'm thinking that Mark Hewitt might have been the source for the picture but I can't remember for sure.

I think I have seen that before but it's a great photo. Possible hammerlock, half nelson and sliding one hook in to possibly go for a cross body leg ride.
