I would also like to say plyometrics and isometrics are great to use in any situation. If anyone here would want to add to that I'd suggest doing lots of pushups (Great Gama style) Also known as Hindu Exercises www.youtube.com/watch?v=p0NLilpx1l4&feature=related

Hindu pressups are great.
I would say with all exercise, quality and form is more important then quantity. Take it slow and do everything in a controlled manner. Build up speed but stay in control; not only is a rep by inertia cheating, it's potentially injury inducing. Same goes for dynamic stretching: don't bounce stretches, but control the up and down phase, always.

I've just completed my first week of SS, and it rules. There are so many nuances to all the lifts that you would never expect from just observing. I'm gonna continue with this until I've hit a base strength level of 100kg bench, 140kg squat and 180kg deadlift, then move onto Justin Lascek's program combining 2 days per week of SS with 2 days Olympic lifting. I'm looking to move into strongman once I've nailed the basics.

yep that's him. i actually moved over to this program this week after only a week of SS, as I'm not a complete novice (bodybuilding on and mainly off for a few years) it wasn't stimulating me enough given the weights i was using and i was desperate to start training the olympic lifts! 3 days in and i'm loving it so far. my flexibility is already improving. www.70sbig.com/?p=1005#comments
