Sambo came from many styles, though people tend to only credit Judo. Catch, Chinese Shiau Jiao, mongolian wrestling, Russian steps, Kurash and many other local folk wrestling styles.

Yep. Take what works and use it. Similar philosophy to Catch, and MMA. Only with BJJ, they'll take stuff and claim they invented it j/k

I cant tell you how many BJJ guys claim to have invented certain submissions, its totally bananas. As far as Sambo goes, its a way cool style. I like the fact that in a Sambo match there's actually 'stalemates' wich are stood up. Lots of attack insted of just pointing, and Combat Sambo closely ressembles MMA.

IMO CACC and Sambo are pretty much the same art with some minor differences, like the gi top which changes some techniques and applications. There are a few differences considering the native style in the us vs the native styles in Russia but the link is undeniable imo.
